Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers.
said," We ourselves are wrong-doers".
لأنفسهم« إنكم أنتم الظالمون» بعبادتكم من لا ينطقThen whosoever fabricateth after this, lie against Allah- these! they are the wrong-doers.
فمَن كذب على الله من بعد قراءة التوراة ووضوح الحقيقة، فأولئك هم الظالمون القائلون على الله بالباطلsaid: verily ye it is who are the wrong-doers.
بالتفكر« فقالوا» لأنفسهم« إنكم أنتم الظالمون» بعبادتكم من لا ينطقHe will admit to His Mercy whom He will; But the wrong-doers,- for them has He prepared a grievous Penalty.
يُدخل من يشاء في رحمته» جنته وهم المؤمنون« والظالمين» ناصبه فعل مقدر، أي أعد يفسره« أَعد لهم عذابا أليما» مؤلماً وهم الكافرونBut We shall save those who guarded against evil, and We shall leave the wrong-doers therein,( humbled) to their knees.
ثم ننجي الذين اتقوا ربهم بطاعته والبعد عن معصيته، ونترك الظالمين لأنفسهم بالكفر بالله في النار باركين على رُكَبهمWe found no( loyalty to any) covenant in most of them. Nay, most of them We found wrong-doers.
وما وَجَدْنا لأكثر الأم الماضية من أمانة ولا وفاء بالعهد، وما وجدنا أكثرهم إلا فسقة عن طاعة الله وامتثال أمرهHow many a town( community), that were wrong-doers, have We destroyed, and raised up after them another people!
وكثير من القرى كان أهلها ظالمين بكفرهم بما جاءتهم به رسلهم، فأهلكناهم بعذاب أبادهم جميعًا، وأوجدنا بعدهم قومًا آخرين سواهم!How many a town( community), that were wrong-doers, have We destroyed,
وكم قصمنا» أهلكنا« من قرية» أي أهلها« كانت ظالمة»Allah loveth not the wrong-doers.
والله لا يحب الظالمين بالشرك والكفرwe have been wrong-doers.
هلاكنا« إنا كنا ظالمين» بالإشراك وتكذيب محمدhave been vouchsafed knowledge, and none gainsay Our signs save the wrong-doers.
أي المؤمنون يحفظونه« وما يجحد بآياتنا إلا الظالمون» أي: اليهود وجحدوها بعد ظهورها لهمbelieth His signs? Verily the wrong-doers shall not fare well.
القرآن« إنه» أي الشأن« لا يفلح الظالمون» بذلكsurely you are one of the wrong-doers.
الآثمين، واشتهر الخبر وشاعHe will admit to His Mercy whom He will and as for the Zalimun,( polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.) He has prepared a painful torment.
يُدخل من يشاء في رحمته» جنته وهم المؤمنون« والظالمين» ناصبه فعل مقدر، أي أعد يفسره« أَعد لهم عذابا أليما» مؤلماً وهم الكافرونwherefore the torment took hold of them while yet they were wrong-doers.
وسلم« فكذبوه فأخذهم العذاب» الجوع والخوف« وهم ظالمونHad Allah willed, He could have made them one community, but Allah bringeth whom He will into His mercy. And the wrong-doers have no friend nor helper.
ولو شاء الله لجعلهم أمة واحدة» أي على دين واحد، وهو الإسلام« ولكن يدخل من يشاء في رحمته والظالمون» الكافرون« ما لهم من وليّ ولا نصير» يدفع عنهم العذابWhoso of you taketh them for friends, such are wrong-doers.
اختاروا« الكفر على الإيمان ومن يتولهم منكم فأولئك هم الظالمونAnd Musa said: My Lord best knoweth him who bringeth guidance from before Him and him whose will be the happy end of the Abode. Verily the wrong-doers shall not thrive.
وقال موسى لفرعون: ربي أعلم بالمحقِّ منَّا الذي جاء بالرشاد من عنده، ومَن الذي له العقبى المحمودة في الدار الآخرة، إنه لا يظفر الظالمون بمطلوبهمHell shall be their bed, and also above them their covering. Thus do We reward the wrong-doers.
لهم من جهنم مهاد» فراش« ومن فوقهم غواشٍ» أغطية من النار جمع غاشية وتنوينه عوض من الياء المحذوفة« وكذلك نجزي الظالمين
