In addition, pursuant to Council resolutions 8/13 and 12/7, the Advisory Committee formulated a set of principles and guidelines on the elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy and their family members.

It had played an active role in the elaboration by the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee of a draft set of principles and guidelines for elimination of discrimination against persons affected by leprosy and their family members and had recently submitted a draft resolution on that topic to the Council, which had been adopted by consensus at its 12th session.
In the Recommended Principles and Guidelines on Human Rights and Human Trafficking, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights recommended a set of principles and guidelines to put the human rights of trafficked persons at the centre of all efforts to prevent and combat trafficking and protect, assist and provide redress to victims.
The first, entitled“Establishment of nuclear-weapon-free zones on the basis of arrangements freely arrived at among the States of the region concerned”, contained, inter alia, a consideration of the objectives and purposes of nuclear-weapon-free zones as well as a set of principles and guidelines based on current practices and available experiences.
The paper further recommends that the Sub-Commission appoint a special rapporteur who would undertake a further study on the elimination of discrimination based on work and descent, focusing on the finalization of a draft set of principles and guidelines, in cooperation with relevant treaty bodies, special procedures and United Nations agencies.
The authors agreed that the two documents prepared by NGOs should form a source of insights in the future work of the Sub-Commission in formulating a draft set of principles and guidelines for the effective elimination of discrimination based on work and descent, together with the proposed framework for principles and guidelines in the expanded working paper by Mr. Eide and Mr. Yokota(E/CN.4/Sub.2/2004/31) and general recommendation XXIX.

Requests the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to collect the views of relevant actors, including Governments, observers of the United Nations, relevant United Nations bodies, specialized agencies and programmes, non-governmental organizations, scientists and medical experts, as well as representatives of persons affected by leprosy and their family members, on the draft set of principles and guidelines, and to make those views available to the Advisory Committee;
